Envy began in the heart of Merseyside in 1989, when local band Suspect met Birmingham's The Big Store at Champers, a dingy nightclub. Stuart and Phil, joined by their love of folk music, combined impromptu renditions of Maggie May and The Leaving Of Liverpool, the heart of Envy was born.
While working in Berkshire's tourist industry, a chance meeting at the Slater Family Jam Night resulted in James being immediately invited to join the project, ditching his hip-hop ryhthms for his long forgotten Gretsch semi-acoustic. Envy run a seaside gift shop near Brighton and with their talented health professional chorus live vocal frontage are pleased to bring you their combined efforts to the world. They also make a very nice cheesecake.

Well, happy new year to one and all! Now that the festive season is finally over we can get back to regular gigging and a more alcohol free lifestyle (okokok, scrap that part). We start off with the introduction of a new member Claire, who's only Emma's sister! What a result! A great lineup for a great band. You'll just have to come and see us to believe it... She's replaced Mags who decided that her degree was more important than music. We can't see how ourselves but, hey, that's showbiz for you....
Envy are Stuart, James, Phil, Emma, Melanie, and Danny. There's several images we've scanned in, so take a peek. Once *we* get pictures of Claire, I assure you I'll get them scanned in as soon as they land on the doorstep. In the meantime you'll just have to use you imagination.....
